What is Reiki?
Reiki is a healing technique with origins in Japan which uses hand positions to keep the energy flowing in the body.
The Reiki healer poses the hands on specific energetic locations on the body to channelize the energy through the body. This technique helps dissolving energy blockages that the person might be experiencing. It brings a sense of balance to the body and mind.
A Reiki healing session moves you to a deep relaxation estate. From here, stress and other difficult emotions are released and the energy of the body can keep on flowing.
Mikao Usui designed Reiki as we know it today, in Japan in 1922. Reiki means universal life (rei) and energy (ki). According to this holistic healing technique, we are all energy and store emotions in the body. Through placing the hands on the body, a Reiki healer can help the energy flow and soften those areas where the flow is unbalanced.
This flow of energy is directly related to the Chakras or energy centers in the body. Reiki practice concentrates on those energetic points of the body, and through the placement of the hands, helps the flow of energy continue.
While receiving Reiki, you may feel different emotions as well as a tingling feeling and warmth in the body. After a Reiki healing session you might feel calm and relaxed. Maybe with a feeling of coming back from a deep sleep.
